Porcelain Veneers

Concord Dentist and Porcelain Veneers

Some of us have naturally attractive teeth. But more often we find that our teeth were far from perfect, or that they need at least a little help. Sometimes a few small changes drastically improve the overall look of our teeth. Occasionally we need to make major changes.

Porcelain veneers are one way to significantly alter the appearance of our teeth. These veneers are not as labour-intensive as implants or crowns, nor do they take years to achieve results, like braces. Instead, porcelain veneers can be fitted with just a few dental appointments.

Where to use Porcelain Veneers – Concord Dentist

Veneers are very suitable for:

– Discoloured Teeth
– Chipped and moderately damaged Teeth
– Small or widely spaced Teeth
– Some types of crooked Teeth
– Some oddly shaped Teeth.

The veneer is an artificial porcelain tooth surface that covers the front of the natural tooth. It is a little like a crown, but where a crown replaces the whole outer surface of the tooth the veneer only covers the front of the tooth. In many cases this is quite effective for many dental issues.

Concord Dentist – Porcelain Veneers Facts

– Porcelain veneers are a long term solution. They should last for several decades.
– The veneer material is highly resistant to staining, wear and temperature changes.
Good Veneers look natural. They are semi-translucent like natural teeth.
– The veneers can fill the gaps between wide teeth, by being made slightly wider than the natural teeth.
– They can correct slight overbite or underbite by effectively bringing the row of teeth in one of the jaws slightly forward.
– Veneers will usually take three dental appointments. Often a whole row of teeth (6 top teeth or 6 bottom teeth) are done simultaneously.
– It takes some time for the veneers to fully bond. But after a few weeks they are very permanent.
– Veneers only require the same regular cleaning as natural teeth. Brush twice per day and floss once per day.
