Government Benefits, Children’s Dentist

Childrens Dentist CDBS

There is a government scheme to provide some free dental care for children in low income families. This Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) can cover part or sometimes all the cost for some basic and essential dental work.

A child is generally for the CBDS eligible if:

– They are 17 or under for at least one day of the calender year.
– They are eligible for Medicare.
– Either they or one of their parents received at least one government payment over the course of a year.
– Alternately, a teenager 17 or under with a partner on a government payment system may also be eligible

It is not possible to claim both private medical insurance and CDBS for the same dental service.

The benefit can be claimed either when you pay at a dentist who bulk bills, or directly from the MyGov services. Talk to the Medicare providers.

CDBS Covers Some Childrens Dentist Work

The CDBS will provide up to $1026 over two calendar years for most types of basic dental services. The amount resets on January the 1st every second year.

The services covered include:

– Check-ups.
– X-rays.
– Cleaning.
– Fissure sealing.
– Fillings.
– Root canals.
– Extractions.

There is no provision to cover cosmetic or orthodontic work.

Childrens Dentist Work

We all understand that early treatment of dental problems is advantageous, preventing any problem from growing worse. Prevention is always better than cure. So we encourage parents to bring children in for basic dental work.

Ask about each dental service, both the cost and whether it is covered by the CDBS.
